Bayern held by Viking as Barcelona hit four in Champions League roundup
Late Viking equaliser denies Bayern
Bayern Munich were held to a 3-3 draw by Norwegian champions Viking after Michael Olise was sent off and Herman Haugen scored in the final minute. Bayern trailed 2-0 at half-time to goals from Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen, but Harry Kane scored twice and supplied another goal to put the German side ahead. Olise’s dismissal, after two yellow cards in quick succession, gave Viking the opening to rescue a point.
Kane scored in a ninth consecutive Champions League match, matching a Bayern club record held by Robert Lewandowski, and is now two goals short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s competition record for consecutive scoring appearances. Olise will miss Bayern’s next match, a home meeting with Arsenal.
Barcelona recover to beat Galatasaray
Barcelona responded to a difficult opening spell in Istanbul to defeat Galatasaray 4-1. The hosts took the lead through a deflected Aleksey Batrakov strike, but João Cancelo levelled before the break. Fermin López put Barcelona ahead early in the second half, and Anthony Gordon extended the advantage after a move involving Lamine Yamal. Karim Adeyemi added a fourth after Gabriel Jesus’s attempted control sent the ball into his path.
Victories for Villarreal, Leipzig, Sabah and Sporting
Villarreal came from behind to beat Napoli 3-1, with Georges Mikautadze, Santiago Mouriño and Tani Oluwaseyi scoring. RB Leipzig edged PSV Eindhoven 1-0 through Brajan Gruda after Maarten Vandevoordt saved Ivan Perisic’s early penalty.
Azerbaijani club Sabah recorded their first win in the Champions League league phase, defeating Slavia Prague 2-0 in Baku. Kaheem Parris and Joy-Lance Mickels scored after the interval. Sporting Lisbon also won 2-0, beating Lens with goals from Luis Suárez and Issa Doumbia.
