Lamine Yamal: Barcelona's new signings feel like four-year teammates already

Yamal hails instant chemistry in the Camp Nou dressing room

Lamine Yamal says Barcelona's new signings have settled in seamlessly at the club and have already built a close bond with their new team-mates, describing the squad as one big family as Hansi Flick's side continue their perfect start to the season.

Lamine Yamal in action for Barcelona

Barcelona were active in the summer transfer window, bringing in Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, while also securing Joao Cancelo on a permanent transfer. And according to Yamal, the new arrivals have made an immediate impression — both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

'‘We get along as if we’ve all been together for four years’

Speaking to France Football, the teenage winger insisted the squad have bonded quicker than anyone could have expected.

“They’re at the same level and, above all, they’ve adapted very well. We get along as if we’ve all been together for four years. With Cancelo, Gabriel, Adeyemi, Gordon, Rodri, everyone. We get along very well and there’s a great understanding.”

Flick’s side have certainly hit the ground running, winning all of their matches so far this season while scoring goals for fun. Yamal believes that joy is visible to anyone watching the Catalans play.

“I get the impression that we’re a very enjoyable team to watch. We play to attack, to have possession, and to score goals. You can tell we enjoy ourselves, that we’re a great family, that every time we’re on the pitch we have a good time.”

Training feels like seeing friends

The Spain international gave an insight into the newfound atmosphere at the club's training ground, where the mood has been transformed by the arrivals.

“We don’t think, ‘Today I’m going to train,’ but rather, ‘I’m going to see my friends, we’re going to have fun, we’re going to train.’ And then match day arrives and everyone enjoys it: the full-back, the goalkeeper, the striker, everyone.”

With the international break scattering Barcelona’s players across the globe, the team will not be back in action until October. But a daunting and mouth-watering run of fixtures awaits, with the Blaugrana set to face Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid next month — tests that will show just how strong that dressing-room bond really is.
