Gerard Martin Included in Barcelona Squad for PSG Clash as Flick Calls Up 18-Year-Old Alex Campos

Barcelona Take a Depleted Defence to Paris

Barcelona have confirmed that Gerard Martin is in the travelling squad for the midweek Champions League meeting with PSG, handing Hansi Flick a welcome fitness boost as he navigates an increasingly threadbare backline. The defender had been a doubt after picking up a knock in the recent 5-2 La Liga win over Real Betis, but he is heading to France with the rest of the side.

The confirmation comes as the Catalan club prepare for what promises to be a stern examination against the Champions League holders at the Parc des Princes.

Campos Handed a Shock Call-Up

With Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia both missing through injury, Flick has turned to the academy for reinforcements, calling up 18-year-old Alex Campos for the trip to Paris. Joao Cancelo, Xavi Espart, Alejandro Balde and Pau Cubarsi are the other defenders named in the squad.

The hope is that Martin will be fit enough to take on Luis Enrique's side, though it remains possible that Flick could turn to Rodri or Frenkie de Jong to fill in centrally if required.

A Key Season on the Line

Barcelona are at the beginning of a decisive week in the 2026-27 campaign. After the European assignment in Paris, Flick's men face Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday, knowing a victory over their rivals would send them nine points clear of Los Blancos.

Managing a stretched defensive unit across two of the biggest fixtures of the season will be a significant test of the manager's depth and improvisation.
