Allegri sent off in Napoli's 3-3 thriller with Roma, vows to stay quiet on the touchline
Massimiliano Allegri was shown a red card for dissent after Roma's equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Napoli, and afterwards said he may no longer be able to stay on the touchline. Napoli led 2-0 and 3-2 but conceded a last-gasp Leonardo Balerdi header.
Napoli 3-3 Roma: McTominay and Balerdi braces light up Derby del Sole epic
Napoli and Roma played out a six-goal thriller at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Frank Anguissa's bicycle kick and a Scott McTominay brace looked to have earned Napoli the points, but substitute Leonardo Balerdi struck twice in the second half — including an 89th-minute header — to snatch a 3-3 draw for Gian Piero Gasperini's title-chasing Roma. Napoli boss Massimiliano Allegri was sent off for dissent.
Napoli Let Donyell Malen Slip Away in January — Now He Returns to the Maradona in a Roma Shirt
Donyell Malen could have been lining up for Napoli instead of Roma tonight. Napoli identified the Dutch striker as a target in last January's window but were blocked by transfer restrictions, allowing Roma to swoop. Malen has since scored six Serie A goals, while Napoli's Rasmus Højlund has managed only two in seven league games.
Allegri demands Napoli improve out of possession and start winning consistently ahead of Roma clash
Massimiliano Allegri says Napoli must improve their work without the ball and deliver more consistent results as they host Roma at the Stadio Maradona in Serie A, with the team currently eighth after 10 points from seven matches in the 2026-27 season.
McTominay double rescues Napoli in 4-3 Bodo/Glimt Champions League thriller
Scott McTominay scored twice, including his first goals of the season and first since heart surgery, as Napoli claimed their first Champions League points of the campaign with a wild 4-3 victory over Bodo/Glimt after leading inside 54 seconds.
Venezia stun Napoli 1-0 to earn first Serie A win as De Bruyne penalty miss deepens Allegri pressure
Venezia claimed their first Serie A points and win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Napoli at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo. Akor Adams scored the 49th-minute winner and Filip Stankovic saved Kevin De Bruyne's penalty as Massimiliano Allegri's side slumped to a shock defeat against the division's only winless team, leaving Napoli ninth.
Venezia shock Napoli 1-0 on Davide Nicola debut as Stankovic denies De Bruyne penalty
Venezia ended a seven-game losing run with a 1-0 Serie A win over Napoli on coach Davide Nicola’s first match in charge. Akor Adams scored in the 49th minute after a Simon Sohm assist and Filip Stankovic produced a decisive penalty save to deny Kevin De Bruyne.
Anguissa and Alisson Santos return as Napoli name 22-man squad for Venezia
Napoli have included Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Alisson Santos in their 22-man squad for Saturday’s Serie A trip to Venezia, offering a boost as they seek a response to their Champions League defeat by Villarreal.
Allegri: De Bruyne row was just a 'misunderstanding' as Hojlund tipped for Venezia bench
Massimiliano Allegri has downplayed his touchline disagreement with Kevin De Bruyne as a 'misunderstanding' and hinted that Rasmus Hojlund could be rested for Napoli's Serie A trip to bottom club Venezia, with Lorenzo Lucca a candidate to start.
David Neres injury rules him out of Napoli’s Venezia trip
David Neres will miss Napoli’s trip to Venezia after reporting muscular discomfort following Tuesday’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Villarreal. The injury’s severity remains unclear, while Frank Anguissa, Mathías Olivera and Alisson Santos return to training.
Roma's Donyell Malen Is Europe's Most Prolific Scorer Since January — and Gian Piero Gasperini's System Is the Reason
Donyell Malen has scored more goals than any other player in Europe's top five leagues since his Roma debut on 18 January, netting 20 goals and leading the way for combined goals and assists (22) ahead of Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Bruno Fernandes. After a difficult spell at Aston Villa, Malen's transformation under Gian Piero Gasperini owes much to a positional switch that has made him Roma's near-permanent central striker.
Politano apologises for costly error as Villarreal come from behind to beat Napoli
Matteo Politano took responsibility for a pass that led to Villarreal's equaliser as the Serie A side fell to a 3-1 Champions League defeat at El Madrigal, a result that adds pressure on Massimiliano Allegri.
De Bruyne brace powers Napoli past Frosinone as Allegri insists he's 'even better' in deeper midfield role
Kevin De Bruyne scored twice — from a retaken penalty and with the last kick of the game — as Napoli cruised past Frosinone 3-0 to climb to eighth in Serie A, while Massimiliano Allegri declared the Belgian 'even better' in a deeper midfield role the playmaker himself is reluctant to embrace.
Napoli cruise past Frosinone 3-0 as De Bruyne bags brace after international break
Napoli returned to winning ways in Serie A with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Frosinone at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice, either side of Noa Lang’s strike, as Massimiliano Allegri’s side picked up their third league victory of the season.
Premier League returns into an era of 'post-verdict unreality' with Manchester City's decade recast as a sham
Barney Ronay writes that the Premier League's return from the international break is unlike any previous resumption: with Manchester City found guilty at first instance and still denying all charges, the league comes back into a state of 'post-verdict unreality', with the club's 10-year dominance rebranded as a sham and its first date in the new world a 'requiem for a dream' at Anfield on Sunday.
Manchester City guilty verdict shines light on Manchester United's £1.15bn debt
BBC analysis shows how the Premier League’s damning findings on Manchester City’s overstated income have refocused attention on Manchester United’s leveraged finances, interest payments totalling an estimated £852m since the Glazer takeover, rising debt to £1.15bn and a disciplined spending stance under CEO Omar Berrada.
Cristiano Ronaldo brands Jorge Jesus's actions an 'absolute breach of trust' after walking out on Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo has accused Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus of an 'absolute breach of trust' in a near-2,000-word Instagram statement after walking out of the national team camp. Jesus insists the door is open, but Portugal have won every match without their 41-year-old captain, the federation is reportedly planning a farewell game, and leading voices in Portugal now question whether there is any way back.
Hojlund's 'siuuu' tribute to 'idol' Ronaldo falls short as Ronaldo-less Portugal beat Denmark 4-2
Rasmus Hojlund scored for Denmark against Portugal in the Nations League and celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo's trademark 'siuuu' celebration, dedicating the goal to his 'idol' after the 41-year-old sensationally left the Portugal squad amid a reported dispute over game time. Ronaldo-less Portugal still won 4-2.
No Ronaldo, no problem: Portugal outgun Denmark in six-goal thriller after star's shock exit
João Cancelo, Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha and João Félix scored as Portugal shrugged off Cristiano Ronaldo's abrupt departure from camp to beat Denmark 4-2 in Copenhagen and stay perfect in Nations League Group A4 — with Rasmus Højlund's 'siuuu' celebration the hosts' only real moment of defiance.
Denmark sink pointless Wales in Copenhagen as Davies own goal and Isaksen strike leave Bellamy 'really hurting'
An own goal from Ben Davies and a Gustav Isaksen strike gave Denmark a 2-0 Nations League win over Wales in Copenhagen, leaving Craig Bellamy's side bottom of Group A4 with no points and no goals from their first two games.
