Morgan Gibbs-White sets sights on England’s Euro 2028 squad after Nations League recall
Gibbs-White targets home Euros after England recall
Morgan Gibbs-White has already set his sights on representing England at Euro 2028 after returning to the squad for the Nations League.

The Nottingham Forest captain was initially omitted from the England squad for the team’s opening Nations League matches, but was brought in as a late replacement for the injured Cole Palmer. The recall came after a prolific campaign in which Gibbs-White recorded 25 goal involvements in all competitions, including 18 goals and seven assists.
He led Forest in both goals and assists, while only eight Premier League players registered more goal involvements during the previous season. Gibbs-White has also scored 13 Premier League goals in 2026, a league-high tally shared with Erling Haaland.
“That is the goal”
Gibbs-White is still waiting for his first England start, having won all eight of his caps as a substitute. Nevertheless, he is determined to remain in contention for the next major tournament.
“Even playing in the Nations League, it's an honour to put on the shirt,” Gibbs-White said. “But that is the goal, you know, a home Euros. The only thing we have in our mindset is to win it.”
Competition for attacking roles
The Forest midfielder acknowledged that England’s attacking positions are among the most competitive areas of the squad. He identified Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon as players competing for roles around the striker.
“Definitely, if you look at the positions that I play in,” he said. “You've got Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham, me, Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon if you want to put it on the left, so you look at those names, and it's stacked.”
Gibbs-White said his priority is to perform consistently for Nottingham Forest and let those displays strengthen his England case. England sit second in Nations League Group A3 after two matches, with Croatia next on Saturday.
