Barcelona, for their part, have little intention of sanctioning Bernal's exit, viewing the midfield starlet as a central figure in the club's long-term future. This week, sporting director Deco and the Camp Nou hierarchy moved to make that position clear to the player and his entourage.

As per a report from market insider Nicolo Schira: 'Marc Bernal is getting closer to extending his contract with Barca until 2031.'

The proposed deal would tie Bernal to the club for the long term, offering reassurance to the teenager amid the arrival of Rodri and reinforcing Barcelona's commitment to their La Masia graduates.
