Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125m as deadline day delivers Premier League transfer frenzy
The 2026 transfer deadline produced a dramatic final day of business, headlined by Manchester City's £125m move for Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea.

Fernandez leads a spectacular final-night scramble
Fernandez's move from Chelsea to Manchester City, listed at £125m, was the largest deal in the final-day tracker. Manchester City also signed Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for £65m, while Jack Grealish left the club for Everton on loan.
Elsewhere, Newcastle paid £51.4m for Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille, Aston Villa agreed a £47m deal for Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris St-Germain and Fulham brought in Manuel Angel from Real Madrid for £3m. Brighton signed Chema Andres from Stuttgart for £15.5m, while Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis joined Aston Villa for £29m.
Big moves and loans reshape the Premier League
Crystal Palace were among the busiest clubs, taking Dario Osario, Quinten Timber, Ben Chilwell and Honest Ahanor on deals recorded on the final day. Tottenham sent Tosin Adarabioyo to Tottenham and also loaned Mykhailo Mudryk to the club, while Kevin Danso moved from Tottenham to Sunderland on loan.
Leeds added Jean-Matteo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt and Melvin Bard from Nice on loan. Hull completed a particularly active day, signing Sorba Thomas, Robinio Vaz, Brooke Norton-Cuffey and Tim Iroegbunam, with Iroegbunam's transfer listed at £22m and Norton-Cuffey's at £12m.
Burnley paid a reported £20m for Zian Flemming from Ipswich and also signed Reo Hatate from Celtic for an undisclosed fee. Liverpool agreed a £30m deal for Lucca Brughmans from Genk, while Djylian N'Guessan joined from St-Etienne for £4.3m, with that move officially taking effect in January.
Femi Azeez among earlier confirmed deals
The deadline-day activity followed a busy month of September deals. Brighton signed Femi Azeez from Millwall for £15m, while Morgan Whittaker moved from Middlesbrough to Colorado Rapids for an undisclosed fee.
Scott Hogan joined Wigan from an unattached position, Michail Antonio signed for Watford and Jordan Ayew joined Sheffield United. Wolves loaned Santiago Bueno to Club America, while Swansea sent Zeidane Inoussa to Gornik Zabrze on loan.
Scottish clubs and lower-league sides also active
Scottish Premiership clubs completed several late moves. Oliver Sorensen joined Celtic from Parma on loan, Dylan Levitt moved from Leyton Orient to Motherwell and Rangers sent Lyall Cameron to Dundee United on loan. Rangers also signed Kevin Kelsy on an undisclosed deal and took Badredine Bouanani on loan from Stuttgart.
The English Football League saw a long list of deadline-day loans and permanent transfers, including Dane Scarlett to Leyton Orient, Oliver Skipp to Charlton, Connor Barron to Middlesbrough, Reo Hatate to Burnley and Stephy Mavididi to Watford. The tracker also recorded Myron Boadu joining Watford from an unattached position and John Lundstram moving to Leicester on a free transfer.
With deals continuing to be announced after the deadline and several moves involving free agents, the September list underlined the depth of activity well beyond the Premier League's headline transfers.
