Barcelona's Roony Bardghji Sidelined with Ruptured ACL in Right Knee

Barcelona Confirm Bardghji ACL Injury and Successful Surgery

Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji is set for a prolonged period of absence after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

A statement from Barcelona read: “The 20-year-old had undergone successful surgery on his right knee. The procedure was carried out at the Hospital de Barcelona by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the club’s medical services.”

A Familiar Nightmare for the Swedish Winger

Bardghji, who made 28 first-team appearances for Hansi Flick’s side last season, could miss the majority of the upcoming campaign with the injury. This is not the first time the young attacker has faced a serious knee problem. A previous injury in May 2024 led to a staggering 334-day absence from first-team action at his former club, Copenhagen.

The Sweden international, who scored two goals and registered four assists last term, will now remain at Barcelona to utilise the club's facilities during his rehabilitation.

Loan Plans Shelved

Bardghji had been expected to leave the Camp Nou on loan this summer, owing to a lack of anticipated playing time following the arrivals of Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon. However, those plans have now been put on hold as the 20-year-old focuses on his recovery from the ACL rupture.

International Absence

Born in Kuwait, Bardghji has earned three caps for Sweden but was not included in the national squad for this summer’s World Cup finals. His latest setback further delays any hopes of establishing himself on the international stage.
