Getafe President Angel Torres Confirms 'Final Offer' Made to Free Agent Jadon Sancho

Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed that the club have made a "final offer" to free agent Jadon Sancho, revealing that the LaLiga side have been working on a deal for the winger for four months.

Four Months of Work on a Free Agent

Sancho is without a club after Manchester United chose not to trigger the one-year option in his contract at the end of last season. The 26-year-old endured a difficult five-year stint at Old Trafford, scoring just 12 goals and providing six assists in 83 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.

He also spent time on loan with former club Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, with the latter stint resulting in Europa League glory under Unai Emery. But after his exit from United, Sancho has failed to find a new club, though reports suggested a move back to Dortmund was close, but never materialised.

Now Getafe have emerged as a genuine destination, with Torres going public on the club's pursuit.

"That's absolutely true; I've been working on this for four months. He's now a free agent. We've made him a final offer," Torres told Cadena Cope radio.

Trickier Than the Carvajal Deal

Getafe sit 14th in LaLiga after their opening eight games of the season, with Rayo Vallecano their next opponents at Estadio Coliseum on Monday. They have won just one of their last six LaLiga games (D2 L3), a 1-0 victory against Malaga, but that did not stop them from bringing Dani Carvajal to the club.

Carvajal, like Sancho, was also without a team after bringing the curtain down on a trophy-laden 13-year stint with Real Madrid, but has since arrived at Getafe.

Torres, however, said a deal to sign Sancho was a little more difficult than the one for Carvajal.

"He's 26 years old, he's very good, so this [signing] is a bit trickier. He's previously played for Manchester [United] and Aston Villa, so it's not as if he's coming from anywhere. I know he's got offers from Qatar and from a number of other places. We need to be patient, not put pressure on him, and let him decide for himself."

With the club's offer now on the table and rival interest from Qatar, Sancho's next move rests squarely on the player's own decision.
