Dani Olmo injured against PSG as Barcelona face Real Madrid without key men

Olmo's night ends early in Paris

Barcelona suffered another injury blow on Tuesday as Dani Olmo was forced off with a problem during the Champions League match against PSG. The Spain international was named in the starting XI and was playing his 100th game for the club, but his evening ended in disappointment after he had to be replaced midway through the first half by Fermin Lopez.

The World Cup winner's problem may now keep him on the sidelines, a worrying development for Hansi Flick's side.

Injury concerns mount before El Clasico

The timing could hardly be worse. Barcelona are back in action at the weekend when they host Real Madrid in La Liga at Camp Nou. The Catalans are already without Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen through injury, and Jules Kounde is also a doubt for the fixture with an ankle problem.

There was some positive news for Flick, however. Rodri is expected to be available to start after Flick opted to leave the Spain midfielder on the bench against PSG, and he should hopefully return for the weekend clash.

Olmo's season so far

Olmo has had to deal with limited minutes this season. Earlier in the campaign he said he was not worried about his lack of starts, insisting he knew he would be important for the club as the season went on. According to FotMob data for LaLiga 2026-27 (snapshot fetched 2026-10-20), he had made 9 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.
