Barcelona isolate six players after Roony Bardghji suffers ACL injury before transfer

Barcelona take precautions after Bardghji injury

Barcelona have changed their training arrangements for six players whose futures remain unresolved after Roony Bardghji suffered a serious knee injury shortly before a proposed move away from the club.

Marc Casadó, Jofre Torrents, Héctor Fort, Tommy Marqués, Guille Fernández and Toni Fernández are reportedly training separately from the main group until their departures are finalized before the end of the transfer window. The measure is intended to prevent another player from sustaining a significant injury at a delicate moment in negotiations.

Casadó is in discussions over a permanent move to Saudi Arabia, while Jofre Torrents is expected to join Ajax. Héctor Fort, who has been linked with Everton and Fulham, is likely to leave in a deal containing a buy-back option. Tommy Marqués, Guille Fernández and Toni Fernández are expected to depart on loan, although talks over those moves remain at an earlier stage.

Bardghji faces lengthy absence

Barcelona confirmed that Roony Bardghji ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training. The Sweden international subsequently underwent successful surgery at the Hospital de Barcelona, with the procedure performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau under the supervision of the club’s medical services.

The 20-year-old could miss most of the upcoming season. He made 28 first-team appearances for Hansi Flick’s side last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists, but had been expected to leave on loan because of the competition created by the arrivals of Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon.

Bardghji will now remain at Barcelona and use the club’s facilities during his rehabilitation. The injury is another major setback in his career: a previous knee problem suffered in May 2024 kept him out of first-team football for 334 days while he was at Copenhagen.

Barcelona’s decision to separate the six players reflects the club’s desire to complete their transfers without exposing them to an avoidable setback similar to Bardghji’s.
