Fellhauer scores fastest goal in Bundesliga history as Augsburg hold Bayern to 2-2
Record-breaking start at the WWK Arena
Robin Fellhauer etched his name into the Bundesliga record books with the fastest goal in the competition's history, finding the net in under nine seconds against Bayern Munich.
It was made all the more remarkable given that Bayern began the game, with Harry Kane passing the ball all the way back to Manuel Neuer from kick-off. The Germany legend took a heavy touch before trying to dink the ball over the onrushing Fellhauer, but the midfielder anticipated the move and intercepted before rushing forward and tucking home the Bundesliga's fastest ever goal in under nine seconds.
The strike was timed at 8.4 seconds and came in Augsburg's 2-2 draw with Bayern on 12 October, according to reporting from that date.
Bayern fight back twice
Despite the stunning opener, Bayern fought back to claim a point, coming from a goal down twice on the short trip to Augsburg. Harry Kane, who had started the move that led to the concession, assisted both of Bayern's goals in the 2-2 draw, per the 12 October report.
Kane's contributions underline his early-season form in the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign, where he has registered five appearances with three goals and three assists.
Questions over Neuer's successor
The manner of the goal — a charged-down clearance from Neuer — reignited questions over how Vincent Kompany will manage the goalkeeping transition to Jonas Urbig, according to earlier reporting.
Augsburg's flying start
The result continued an encouraging opening to the season for Augsburg. Ahead of the fixture, Kompany had relished the derby test after the hosts' strong start, with Fabian Rieder flagged as one to watch — the Swiss midfielder was one of only three players to record a goal involvement in each of the first four Bundesliga matchdays of 2026-27.
