Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi has been granted an early release from Germany duty and is returning to the Catalan capital, according to reports cited by Mundo Deportivo.

Adeyemi was selected for Germany’s squad for this month’s Nations League fixtures and started against both the Netherlands and Greece. With Germany working through an unusually large 44-player group during the international break, the 24-year-old has now been permitted to end his involvement early.

He is the second Barcelona first-team player reported to have returned before the conclusion of international duty. Eric Garcia previously left Spain’s camp because of discomfort in his left knee, with caution advised.

Mundo Deportivo reported: “In addition to Eric Garcia, who left the Spanish national team camp due to discomfort in his left knee that advises caution, another of the 17 Barça internationals who has finished his participation with his country is Karim Adeyemi.”

Adeyemi’s early return gives Barcelona an additional first-team player back at the club ahead of the resumption of domestic football.
