Steven Gerrard has 'no regrets' over rejecting Real Madrid, Inter and Bayern Munich
Gerrard stands by decision to stay at Liverpool
Steven Gerrard has insisted he has "no regrets" over turning down interest from Real Madrid, Inter and Bayern Munich to remain at Liverpool, the club where he spent the majority of his career.
The former Reds captain made 710 appearances for the club, scoring 186 goals and winning eight trophies during his 17-year spell on Merseyside. He led Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005, when they staged their famous comeback over AC Milan in the final, while also winning two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, one UEFA Cup (Europa League) and one Super Cup. He never managed to win the Premier League.

Mourinho links and Schweinsteiger interest
Madrid and Inter both held interest in Gerrard when Jose Mourinho was their head coach, while Bayern saw him as a possible replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger in 2015. Chelsea were also linked with him on several occasions.
Speaking on The Overlap Daily, Gerrard explained the offers he received during his career.
"I had some interest from foreign teams and the majority of that was through Jose Mourinho," Gerrard said. "Inter, Real Madrid, on a couple of occasions, and at the back end a few conversations with my agent when [Bastian] Schweinsteiger was leaving Bayern [in 2015].
"I wasn't really that interested in it because I was never going to leave Liverpool at the time. I was enjoying my football under Brendan [Rodgers] when that one came but yes, three of four of the big teams showed some interest during my career, which is flattering, of course it is.
Watching rivals abroad
Gerrard acknowledged that seeing players such as Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane win trophies abroad has made him reflect on his choices.
"When you watch the likes of Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane and you see them winning loads of trophies with foreign teams, it does cross your mind and you go back and you think. But I have no regrets in terms of the decisions I made. No regrets."
