Kane says Bayern’s squad must cover Olise’s absence against Arsenal

Kane calls on Bayern to fill the gap left by Olise

Harry Kane has urged Bayern Munich’s squad to step up as they prepare to face Arsenal without suspended winger Michael Olise in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Olise is unavailable after being sent off against Viking FK last week. Kane acknowledged that missing a key player would be felt, but said it also created an opportunity for others to make an impact.

“When one of your key players is missing, you definitely feel the difference. But that’s exactly when other players have to step up and make the most of this opportunity,” Kane said, as quoted by Bayern’s official website.

“Whoever plays has to be ready,” he added, pointing to the high standards in training and the expectation that teammates can come in and do a good job.

‘A special night’ at the Allianz Arena

Kane described the meeting with Arsenal as a “big game” and said Bayern were looking forward to testing themselves against one of Europe’s leading teams. The match will be played at the Allianz Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 CEST on Wednesday.

Bayern go into the fixture after a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig at the weekend. Kane said the team must carry that momentum into the Champions League tie, while remaining clear-headed for what he expects to be a difficult match.

“We’re playing here at home – the energy, the fans – it’s sure to be a special night,” Kane said.
