Juventus held by Rennes after late Lucumí goal is ruled out
Juventus lose late winner to offside
Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw by Rennes after Jhon Lucumí’s apparent late winner was ruled out for offside, ending the Italian side’s bid for a third consecutive victory.
Zeki Celik gave Juventus an early lead, but Rennes responded through Musa al-Tamaari and then moved in front before half-time. Their second goal came from the penalty spot after Douglas Luiz handled Aboubakar Nagida’s attempt. Boulaye Dia converted, sending Guglielmo Vicario the wrong way.
Woltemade levels from the spot
Juventus earned a penalty of their own midway through the second half when Bryan Reynolds was penalised for handball. Nick Woltemade scored, sending his kick straight down the middle to make it 2-2.
Lucumí thought he had completed the comeback in the 88th minute, scrambling the ball home after it broke loose during a free-kick. The goal was disallowed because the Colombia defender was offside when Teun Koopmeiners initially flicked on the cross. Juventus had to settle for a point.
