Nashville Outclasses Inter Miami in Top-of-the-Table Clash

Nashville SC delivered a statement performance on home soil, dismantling Inter Miami 4-1 to extend its lead at the top of the Supporters' Shield standings to five points. Goals from Andy Nájar, Hany Mukhtar (twice), and Sam Surridge sealed a memorable win for the hosts, who regained control of the match after Miami had pulled level just before halftime.

Against the run of play, Miami was handed a lifeline when Suárez was brought down inside the area by Jeisson Palacios. Messi, who missed two penalties at the World Cup for Argentina, stepped up to take the spot kick in the 23rd minute. However, his unconvincing effort — which featured a slight pause in his run-up — was saved by Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake, who dived to his right. Reguilón's follow-up found the net, but the goal was ruled out for encroachment into the box.

Messi Responds Before Nashville Takes Over

The penalty miss appeared to galvanize Messi, who dropped into a pocket of space in first-half stoppage time and produced a lovely forward pass to pick out Telasco Segovia. Segovia executed a superb spin before firing into the far corner to level the score.

But Nashville seized control after the break. In the 49th minute, Palacios sparked a move from one side of the pitch to the other, and Saad's superb short pass found Mukhtar in the area. The Nashville playmaker finished perfectly, firing across goal to restore the lead.

Nashville moved two goals clear in the 56th minute when Cristian Espinoza sent a pass across toward the near post and Surridge converted with a beautiful heel flick. Messi was left protesting a foul he believed should have been awarded in the buildup and was shown a yellow card for his continued dissent.

Goalkeeper Error Caps Miami's Misery

Miami's misery deepened when goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo made a costly error. After Schwake launched a goal kick high into the Miami half, Ríos Novo came racing out of goal — midway into his own half — in an attempt to clear the danger. He misjudged the ball, and Mukhtar showed composure to slot home his second and Nashville's fourth.

In the dying stages, Messi hit each post in quick succession and then had a goal ruled out for offside before the full-time whistle confirmed Nashville's emphatic victory.

The result strengthens Nashville's push for the Supporters' Shield, giving them a commanding five-point cushion over Inter Miami with the season entering its critical phase.
