Barcelona and Real Madrid Stars Share Same Hotel in Bizarre Weekend Coincidence
An unusual scene has unfolded in Barcelona this weekend, as players and staff from both of Spain's footballing giants find themselves sharing the same accommodation ahead of their respective La Liga fixtures.

Real Madrid, led by manager José Mourinho, made the trip to Catalunya for their La Liga season opener against Espanyol. In a curious coincidence, the capital city side booked into the very same hotel that Barcelona are currently using as a base for their own preparations ahead of Sunday's clash with Elche.
Barcelona's newest summer arrivals — those who have yet to secure permanent accommodation in the city — have been staying at the property in question, meaning they could well cross paths with their Real Madrid counterparts in the hotel corridors and communal areas.
The situation was brought to light by Spanish journalist Victor Navarro, who reported:
'Right now, they're at the same hotel in Barcelona: Rodri, Mourinho, and the entire Real Madrid squad. It's the same hotel where Barça are staying and where the new blaugrana signings are sleeping. And Madrid chose it before playing vs Espanyol.'
While there is no suggestion of any tension, the arrangement is certainly an oddity in the often fiercely tribal world of Spanish football, where Barcelona and Real Madrid are accustomed to keeping a respectful distance from one another. Whether any awkward encounters materialise in the lobby or dining room remains to be seen, but it adds a subplot of intrigue to what is already a high-stakes opening weekend for both clubs.
