David Raya says he would love to play in LaLiga one day
Raya leaves the door open to a return to Spain
David Raya says he would welcome the chance to play in LaLiga at some point in his career, while stressing that he is happy at Arsenal for now.
“I would love to try out LaLiga,” Raya told Marca. “For now, I’m very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league.” He added that playing for a Spanish club in the future would appeal to him because he is Spanish.

Arsenal success and a career-best season
Raya has spent his professional career in England since leaving Spain in 2012, aged 16, to join Blackburn. After spells with Blackburn Rovers, Southport and Brentford, he joined Arsenal permanently in 2024 following a loan spell with the club.
According to the report, Raya has made 157 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions and kept 74 clean sheets. That total is 31 more than the next-highest Premier League goalkeeper in the same period, Jordan Pickford, and 11 more than Yann Sommer’s tally across Europe’s top five leagues. Raya has also won three Premier League Golden Gloves.
He called the campaign his best as a professional, citing Arsenal’s Premier League title and his contributions in the Champions League and Community Shield. He said the one thing missing from his year was playing at the World Cup. Spain won the tournament, but Unai Simon was preferred in goal and Raya did not feature.
More silverware in his sights
Raya said he hopes to keep improving and wants Arsenal to build on their achievements. With a Champions League meeting against Bayern Munich approaching, he said the team’s aim was to “win it all” and improve on last season by lifting the European trophy.
In the current Premier League season, the report says Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen has five clean sheets, one more than Raya’s four.
