Manchester United may be forced into January market for left-back and attack
United weigh mid-season reinforcements
Manchester United could be forced into January action in the transfer market to strengthen at left-back and in attack, according to The Sun, as reported in Sky Sports' Paper Talk.
The Old Trafford club are weighing whether mid-season additions are required to plug problem positions, with both the left side of defence and the forward line identified as areas demanding attention heading into the winter window.
The speculation is not new. On 10 October 2026, BBC Sport reported that United "may be forced to dip into the transfer market to strengthen in January because of issues at left-back and in their forward line," noting that Old Trafford chiefs were "considering whether mid-season additions are needed to address problem positions, with both the left side of defence and the attack identified as areas requiring attention."
Longer-term, the club has also been linked with a significant spending push, with reporting in September 2026 having pointed to a possible £150m rebuild outlay as part of the squad overhaul at the club.
