Bayern chief Max Eberl misses Ballon d'Or ceremony with cold
Eberl sidelined by illness
Bayern Munich have announced that Max Eberl will miss Monday evening's Ballon d'Or ceremony due to illness. The club confirmed that the FC Bayern board member for sport is suffering from a cold and will therefore be unable to travel to the event.

Bayern still in the spotlight
Bayern will still be represented at the ceremony, with the club nominated in several categories. Among the contenders is Harry Kane, who is one of the favourites to win the men's Ballon d'Or.
Should Kane claim the prestigious award, he would become the first Bayern Munich player to win it since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who took home the prize in 1981.
Background
Earlier this month, Bayern president Herbert Hainer said Kane should take the award ahead of team-mate Michael Olise. Kane scored 64 goals for Bayern last season before adding six more at the World Cup, according to reporting at the time.
