Allegri banned for two Serie A games including Juventus return

Lega Serie A confirms two-match ban for Napoli boss

Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri has been handed a two-game suspension by Lega Serie A and will miss his side’s upcoming matches against Monza and his former club Juventus.

Massimiliano Allegri shown red card during Napoli vs Roma

The ban follows Allegri’s red card for protests after Leonardo Balerdi’s late equaliser in Napoli’s 3-3 draw with Roma on Saturday evening in Serie A Week 8 of the 2026-27 season. Allegri took off his jacket and stormed off after being shown a red card, but returned a few moments later and needed to be held back by members of his coaching staff.

His reaction has earned him a two-match ban, which means that he will not be permitted to sit in the dugout for Napoli’s next matches against Monza or away against Juventus next weekend.

Suspensions after Serie A Week 8

The eighth round of 2026-27 Serie A fixtures began on Friday night with Torino’s 3-2 victory over Monza and came to a close with Milan’s 2-0 win away against Udinese on Sunday night.

Only one player was sent off during the weekend’s round of Serie A fixtures: Lecce’s Kiolonda Gaspar, who has earned a two-match suspension after being shown a straight red card for violent conduct, appearing to intentionally strike his opponent in the face with his arm.

No players have yet reached the five yellow card threshold to earn a one-match ban, although Frosinone’s Gabriele Bracaglia and Cagliari’s Alessandro Deiola are now on four each.

The only other individual to earn a suspension this weekend was Napoli head coach Allegri, who was shown a red card for his protests after Leonardo Balerdi’s late equaliser in the 3-3 draw between the Partenopei and Roma on Saturday evening.
