Barcelona keep Luis Suárez on their January shortlist

Barcelona are considering reigniting their pursuit of Sporting CP forward Luis Suárez in the January transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Suárez was among the centre-forwards linked with a move to Hansi Flick’s side during the summer as Barcelona assessed options in attack. The report says the club’s search followed the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

The 28-year-old Colombian ultimately remained in Portugal after Sporting’s financial demands brought Barcelona’s interest to a halt. Barcelona instead opted for a cut-price move for Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus.

However, Suárez’s form has reportedly kept him on the club’s radar. Fichajes claims he has registered eight goals and assists in his first eight appearances of the new season, prompting Barcelona to reassess the possibility of making a move after the turn of the year.

Any January deal would still depend on Sporting’s valuation and Barcelona’s ability to complete a transfer within their financial restrictions.
