Augsburg held to 1-1 by ten-man Union as Rieder brands result 'two points dropped'
Augsburg left to rue missed opportunity against reduced Union
FC Augsburg were held to a 1-1 draw at home by a Union Berlin side reduced to ten men for 71 minutes, and the hosts' players could not hide their frustration at failing to capitalise on their numerical advantage.
Pegged back to a 1-1 draw, Swiss international Fabian Rieder was livid after Augsburg failed to get the better of the visitors from Köpenick.
"For us, that feels like two points dropped today," Rieder said in his post-match interview in the mixed zone. "Naturally, going five games without a win is frustrating. These spells are part of football, but we want to get through this together."
"We need to make better use of our numerical advantage and protect our lead. I'm absolutely convinced that we have the quality to do so," he added.

His teammate Anton Kade hailed the resolute defending of their ten-man opponents, who held firm for over an hour with a man fewer.
"The opposition defended really compactly. It's difficult to break through in that situation, but we have to come up with the answers," Kade said.
"There were some good moves as well, so we shouldn't look at everything negatively. We're straight back in action during this busy week."
Attention now turns to the cup, with Kade warning that the challenge will not get any easier.
"The cup tie will be similarly difficult. We'll need to be ready for plenty of individual battles," Kade explained as Augsburg prepare to face fourth-tier side Großaspach.
