The 2026 transfer deadline delivered a frantic finale of confirmed deals across the Premier League, English Football League, Scottish Premiership, Women's Super League and several major international leagues, as clubs raced to fine-tune their squads before the window slammed shut.

Hull City's remarkable deadline spree
Hull were among the busiest clubs of the day, sealing moves for Christos Mouzakitis, Sorba Thomas, Robinio Vaz, Brooke Norton-Cuffey and Ilyas Ansah alongside the Iroegbunam deal, underlining an ambitious late rebuild.

Earlier in the window, Danny Ings joined Wycombe as a free agent.
In Scotland, Lyall Cameron joined Dundee United on loan from Rangers, Dylan Levitt moved to Motherwell, and Celtic's Reo Hatate moved to Burnley, with Oliver Sorensen arriving at Celtic on loan from Parma.
Women's Super League and international moves
The Women's Super League saw Anna Moorhouse join Manchester City on loan from Orlando Pride, Elisa de Almeida move to Arsenal from Paris St-Germain, Shanade Hopcroft join Crystal Palace and Rebeca Bernal sign for Manchester United from Washington Spirit.
Internationally, Wout Faes left Leicester for Shabab Al Ahli, and Zeidane Inoussa joined Gornik Zabrze on loan from Swansea.
Window closes across Europe's top five leagues
The deadline marked the end of a marathon summer of business across Europe's top-five leagues, with the Guardian's rolling tracker logging deals from experienced centre-backs returning home to a rush of young talent heading to Portugal (earlier reporting, 13 September 2026). By the time the window shut, clubs across the continent had completed an exhaustive list of free-agent, loan and permanent transfers.
