Barcelona star salutes Real Madrid defender after Three Lions' 2-0 triumph

Barcelona forward Anthony Gordon has moved to publicly reveal his appreciation for the talents of Real Madrid defender and international teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, after the pair combined to superb effect in the colours of England on Tuesday night.

En route to a 2-0 Nations League triumph for the Three Lions over Czechia in Prague, Alexander-Arnold teed up Gordon for the game's opener. From his berth at right-back, the former whipped a devilish delivery in behind the hosts' backline, which was nodded into the corner of the Czech net by the arriving Gordon.

'Top, top quality'

Speaking to the media in the game's aftermath, the Barcelona attacker was drawn on the quality boasted by his oft-criticised compatriot. And Gordon made full use of the opportunity to heap praise on the Real Madrid man, explaining:

"Not many players can make the assist Trent made last night. I told him that when he scored! I keep making that run over and over… he's fantastic. Top, top quality."

It marks yet another statement performance from a rearguard who has been routinely questioned by critics, and whose creative passing has once again proved decisive on the international stage as England made it back-to-back goals with their Prague opener setting the tone for a commanding victory.
