Marc Casadó fumes after Barcelona hand his No.17 shirt to Anthony Gordon
Casadó angered by shirt-number move amid Barcelona exit push
Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó has been left frustrated by behind-the-scenes developments at Camp Nou, with the 22-year-old reportedly upset that his squad number has been given to a new signing.
According to Blaugrana insider Gerard Romero, who discussed the situation on his official Twitch channel on Saturday, Casadó was upset with the call made by the Barcelona brass to hand his jersey number 17 to summer signing Anthony Gordon.
Casadó is widely expected to leave before the month is out. Identified as surplus to requirements in Hansi Flick’s squad, the lifelong Barcelona supporter and La Masia youth product has been asked to find a new club ahead of the season.
The Spaniard is said to be understandably disappointed by the developments, although he has remained professional in the process. He is working alongside super agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate an amicable parting of ways with the club he grew up supporting.
Romero’s comments suggest the shirt-number decision has added to Casadó’s frustration in the midst of the ongoing exit saga.
