Guimaraes fired up by Arteta's grand vision after £70m switch

Bruno Guimaraes believes Arsenal are on the cusp of a golden era under Mikel Arteta, revealing that the Gunners boss is determined to "make a dynasty" at the Emirates Stadium that will push the club to win on every front.

"Since the first time I spoke to him [Arteta], he wants to make a dynasty here, trying to win everything as possible and I am always very excited of his idea," Guimaraes told the Men In Blazers network on YouTube.

The Brazilian completed his reported £70 million transfer to Arsenal from Newcastle United earlier this month after four successful years under Eddie Howe on Tyneside, and his arrival has significantly strengthened a midfield now packed with star power.

Arteta now has a wealth of options in the engine with Martin Odegaard, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze all competing for minutes alongside the Brazilian.

Champions in waiting

Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season and have built on that triumph with a busy summer. Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis have been added to the squad, Illan Meslier has joined, and Piero Hincapie's move from Bayer Leverkusen has been made permanent as the club pushes to stay on top.

"I don't have any one target - we go for everything." I think the potential we have in this team is unbelievable."

That optimism is reflected in a strong start to the 2026-27 campaign. After a 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield, the Gunners swept aside the start of the Premier League with a similar result, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all finding the net. It was Arsenal's joint-biggest victory when opening a Premier League campaign at home, equalling their 1994-95 effort.

Numbers behind the hype

Guimaraes' arrival adds not just depth but genuine quality. Since making his Premier League debut in February 2022, he has won more duels among active players and more fouls than any other player in the competition, while only new midfield partner Declan Rice covers greater distance among his peers.

"I can play every position in the midfield, but this just depends on Mikel's ideas," the Brazilian added. "He said to me that I can play in should, and I said yes, it just depends on you and where he wants me to play. I am just ready to play for Arsenal, no matter where."

"I don't want to set targets, we need to think about the game again and let's see how far we can go, but with this team, I have a big chance of winning trophies."
