Barcelona plot third and final offer for Rodri after Man City reject £55m bid

Barcelona have seen a second official offer for Rodri rejected by Manchester City, but the Catalan giants are refusing to give up on their pursuit of the Spain midfielder and are preparing to submit one final, improved proposal before the transfer window closes.

According to Cadena SER, the Blaugrana are ready to table a revised bid worth a total of €70 million — €60m up front plus €10m in add-ons — in a last-ditch attempt to prise the World Cup winner away from the Etihad. Reports in England, meanwhile, claim City are holding firm and demanding around €80m to sanction a sale.

Second bid rejected

The latest setback came on Thursday, when City formally rebuffed Barcelona's second proposal. Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs reported: "Barcelona's second bid of around £55m (€64m) for Rodri has been rejected by Manchester City as talks continue."

The news was confirmed by those in power at the Premier League champions, who responded officially to the Blaugrana's latest advances. Sources in England indicate City are holding out for a figure closer to €80m, a price the Catalan club is not yet willing to match — though they remain confident an agreement can still be reached.

Player keen on Camp Nou move

Rodri has taken centre stage in the media headlines surrounding Hansi Flick's Barcelona over the past week after the midfielder himself made clear his preference for a move to the Camp Nou over Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu. An agreement on the terms of a personal contract is already in place between the player and the Blaugrana, with sporting director Deco and his team now focused on finding a similar accord with Manchester City.
