Dundee forced into free-agent search

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley says the club’s injury crisis has left it considering the free-agent market. A trialist is expected to feature in Thursday’s bounce game against Hearts after Jack Moorhouse suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Hearts could use the fixture to give defenders Malachi Fagan-Walcott and midfielders Oisin McEntee and Finlay Pollock valuable minutes as they continue their recoveries from injury.

Other Scottish football developments

Former Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says retirement has turned him into an “effectively a taxi driver” for his children, although he still hopes to move into management.

Marcelo Saracchi, now with Houston Dynamo, said he wanted to return to Celtic from Boca Juniors during the summer. He indicated that while Martin O’Neill wanted the move, it did not feel as though the club as a whole shared that desire.

Former Hearts coach Darren Murray is launching a player-development programme intended to help reshape Scottish football. Meanwhile, Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen said his loan spell at Rangers was difficult because Scottish football was not the right fit for him.

Scotland youth international Dylan Reid, 21, has joined Scottish Championship side Arbroath for the rest of the season, more than two years after moving from St Mirren to Crystal Palace.
