Barcelona demand €80-90m for Dani Olmo as Bayern Munich weigh up January swoop
Barcelona have placed a hefty asking price on the head of midfield star Dani Olmo, with German champions Bayern Munich weighing up a winter swoop for the Spain international.
Olmo has found himself in and out of the starting XI in Catalunya's capital over the early weeks of the 2026-27 campaign. Between La Liga and the Champions League, the 28-year-old has featured from the off in just three fixtures, and come off the bench in five. Forced to battle it out for minutes with the explosive Fermín López — who has four goals and two assists in six La Liga outings this season — Olmo appears to be considered more of a backup than a first-choice option by Hansi Flick at present, and has yet to score in seven LaLiga 2026-27 appearances, registering three assists.
That situation has given rise to widespread speculation surrounding his future at the Camp Nou, and Bayern are understood to be giving serious consideration to a January bid. But if the Bavarians are serious about a deal for the gifted midfielder, they will need to pay up. As per a report from Diario Sport, citing transfer journalist Ekrem Konur: 'Barça would only begin to think about the transfer with a figure close to 80-90 million euros.'
Bayern's long-standing pursuit
Bayern's interest in Olmo is not new. Back on 25 September, reporting indicated that the German giants were eyeing a potential mid-season move for the Barcelona midfielder as they drew up contingency plans amid growing external interest in Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise. Olmo spent several successful seasons in Germany with RB Leipzig before his 2024 switch to Barcelona, making him well-accustomed to the Bundesliga and an appealing target should Bayern decide to push ahead with a bid.
Twice rejected Bayern before
There is also recent history to suggest Olmo will not come cheap — or easily. Earlier this month, on 2 October, his agent Marc Bara revealed that the midfielder had turned down Bayern on two separate occasions before eventually joining Barcelona: first while at Dinamo Zagreb, and again during his time at RB Leipzig, before choosing the Blaugrana ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Since arriving at the Camp Nou, Olmo has become an important player for both Barcelona and Spain, scoring 20 goals and providing 18 assists in 96 matches for the club. Whether his reduced role under Flick prompts Barcelona to consider a sale in January remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the former RB Leipzig standout will only leave for a premium fee.
