Barcelona teammates visit injured Roony Bardghji

Barcelona have rallied around Roony Bardghji after the young forward underwent successful surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Bardghji was carried out of training earlier in the week after suffering the injury. Medical tests at Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva confirmed that it was the second ACL tear of the 20-year-old’s career, leaving him facing a lengthy rehabilitation and an absence expected to last at least six months.

The winger underwent the operation at Hospital de Barcelona. The club said the procedure was performed by Dr Joan Carles Monllau under the supervision of Barcelona’s medical services and confirmed that it had been successful.

Pedri, Gavi and defenders show their support

Several first-team players visited Bardghji at a local Barcelona hospital on Thursday. Pedri, Gavi, Alejandro Balde and Héctor Fort were among those who made the trip to support their teammate.

Bardghji responded with a positive message from his hospital bed, writing: “Love you guys, thanks for showing up.” He also addressed Barcelona supporters with a determined update: “The road back starts now.”

The injury is a major setback for a player who had been expected to leave before the close of the transfer window. Barcelona now expect Bardghji to miss most, if not all, of the coming season as he begins recovery from his second ACL operation.
