Borussia Dortmund edged Azerbaijani side Sabah 2-1 in the Champions League but required 22 shots and an xG of 3.73 to score twice, prompting coach Niko Kovac and sporting director Ole Book to demand more ruthlessness in the final third. Serhou Guirassy's double proved decisive and took him to 21 Champions League goals for the club.
Serhou Guirassy scored twice as Borussia Dortmund beat Sabah FK 2-1 in Baku to return to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League league phase, though Niko Kovač's side were made to sweat after a wasteful second-half display.
Manchester United opened their Champions League group campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over debutants Sabah at Old Trafford, but the visitors' night was defined by Joy-Lance Mickels' glaring first-half header that summed up a missed opportunity on a landmark European evening for the Azerbaijani champions.
