Canada's Striker Search: Jonathan David Still Hunting for a Forward Partner as Larin Leaves Camp With Back Injury
Canada's goalless night against the United States laid bare a familiar problem: nobody to consistently partner Jonathan David in attack. With Cyle Larin gone from camp with a minor back injury, Tani Oluwaseyi peripheral and a four-forward experiment producing chaos rather than control, Jesse Marsch heads into 2027 still looking for answers.
Jesse Marsch Eviscerates Canada's Attack After 1-0 Friendly Loss to USMNT: 'Not Enough to Just Work Really Hard'
Jesse Marsch abandoned his usual positivity after Canada's 1-0 friendly defeat to the United States in St. Paul, accusing his players of lacking conviction, personality and control in the final third. The coach warned that defending well and working hard will not be enough for Canada to win a first trophy since 2000 or repeat their Copa America run.
Premier League transfer window verdict: Arsenal's striker drought, Villa's £300m clearout and Chelsea's £117m Rogers coup
A club-by-club verdict on the 2026 Premier League summer transfer window: Arsenal landed Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimarães and Ezri Konsa but failed to sign a marquee attacker; Aston Villa banked about £300m from nine sales in a radical squad rebuild; Chelsea made Xabi Alonso's first window count with the £117m capture of Morgan Rogers; and the business of Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton and Coventry is also assessed.
Premier League summer 2026 transfer window verdict: Arsenal’s marquee miss, Villa’s overhaul and Chelsea’s rebuild
The Guardian’s club-by-club assessment of the summer 2026 window finds Arsenal frustrated in the attack market, Aston Villa executing a £300m squad refresh, Bournemouth keeping core talent, Brentford adding stability, Brighton banking big profits, and Chelsea beginning a new era under Xabi Alonso with major incomings and outgoings.
