Middlesbrough hammer Bolton 5-1 to seize Championship top spot

Middlesbrough surged to the top of the Championship with a commanding 5-1 win over Bolton, creating 31 shots and 4.16 expected goals. Will Lankshear scored twice to take his league tally to 11 in 12 games.

Will Lankshear stepped off the bench to inspire Middlesbrough's second-half fightback in a 2-2 draw with 10-man Cardiff at the Riverside. Cardiff had led 2-0 at the interval through Jack Moylan and Ollie Tanner before Tommy Conway and Lankshear levelled, and Gabriel Osho was sent off late.

Will Lankshear's ninth goal in 12 games kept Middlesbrough in the Championship's automatic promotion places and left Tottenham counting the cost of a sale worth up to £20m, with the 21-year-old already matching his former club's entire scoring output this season.
