Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu play out Ranji Trophy draw in Jaipur opener
Rajasthan hold Tamil Nadu to Ranji Trophy draw in Jaipur
Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu settled for a draw in their 2026-27 Ranji Trophy opener in Jaipur on October 15, 2026, with Mahipal Lomror's rearguard innings proving decisive in denying Tamil Nadu a comeback.
Lomror held firm with a patient 84 off 170 balls, including seven fours, before falling. The lower order, with Kukna unbeaten on 32, closed the door on Tamil Nadu's fightback. Manav Suthar then declared Rajasthan's innings, setting the visitors an improbable target of 282 in less than two sessions.
Tamil Nadu made no real attempt to chase, reaching 73 without loss at tea. Narayan Jagadeesan (45 not out) and Sai Sudharsan (26 not out) were at the crease when the match was called off, leaving Rajasthan to pocket three points from the contest.
Newly appointed Tamil Nadu coach Yo Mahesh pointed to the positives from the season-opener. "There are several positives from this season-opener," he said, while also singling out the contribution of Deepesh Deve.
