Ben Affleck’s children roast his dating history: ‘You’re the expert on relationships?’
Ben Affleck admits his children no longer take his dating advice seriously
Ben Affleck says his children have reached an age where they are less interested in hearing parental advice—particularly when the subject is dating.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor said his children now exchange knowing looks when he tries to speak like an expert. “Now I, like, give advice or try to talk to them like a parent, as you do,” Affleck recalled. “But what I’ve found is that now it’s not only one teenager rolling their eyes… now I catch them giving each other looks. And I realise I’m the caricature in this story.”
His children turn his romantic history into a punchline
Affleck described a family dinner during which the conversation moved from school drama and friends to relationships. When he began offering lessons from his own experience, his son Fitz reportedly interrupted with a pointed question: “Oh, like you’re the expert on relationships?”
The actor also recalled a trip to a bookstore, where Fitz spotted a book titled I’m Sorry For Everything and joked, “Oh, look, Dad, it’s your autobiography.” Affleck said he was ultimately proud of his children’s sense of humour, adding, “I was kind of proud of them, though. I’m like, ‘My kids like that.’”
Affleck’s family and high-profile relationships
Affleck shares three children—Violet, Fin and Samuel—with his former wife, Jennifer Garner. The couple married in 2005 and divorced after a decade together. Affleck later rekindled his relationship with Jennifer Lopez in 2021; they married in 2022 before filing for divorce in 2024.
