A Dream Deferred

In May 2025, Bianca Adler stood just 400 metres from the summit of Mount Everest — close enough to taste glory, far enough for disaster to strike. Strong winds lashed the mountain, snow blew in every direction, and her hands and toes were going numb, the first telltale signs of frostbite. She made the agonising decision to turn back.
