Ranji Trophy Round 2 Day 3: Baroda, UP, Assam, Bengal and Tamil Nadu Register Wins

The third day of Ranji Trophy Round 2 produced a string of outright results across the groups, with Baroda, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bengal and Tamil Nadu all sealing victories.

Group A

In Vadodara, Bihar 166 & 251 (M Mahrour 138, B Bhatt 6/53, M Pithiya 3/40) lost to Baroda 416 & 4/0, with Baroda taking seven points to Bihar's none. In Puducherry, Puducherry 177 & 198/1 were up against MP 302/5 (R Patidar 122, C Rathore 78; S Trivedi 4/44). In Kanpur, UP 202 & 197 (A Juyal 74, Y Kasvankar 5/69) beat Goa 164 & 167 (S Prabhudessai 72, K Tyagi 5/37), with UP claiming six points.

Group B

In Mullanpur, Punjab 456 faced Chhattisgarh 206 (A Khare 91, H Brar 7/56) & 123/3 (A Pandey 59 not out). In Alur, Karnataka 342 & 99/2 met Saurashtra 349 (S Gajjar 79, H Desai 77; V Kaverappa 4/57). In Guwahati, Assam 334 beat Tripura 62 & 307 (M Murasingh 161, S Sarkar 59, M Thakur 5/101), earning six points. In Vijayawada, Hyderabad 275 & 306/7 declared (K Himateja 123, T Thyagarajan 53 not out; K Saiteja 4/40) took on Andhra 184 (S Rasheed 61, T Thyagarajan 5/63).

Group C

In New Delhi, Bengal 184 & 146 beat Services 122 & 148 (P Pramanik 4/48, S Ahmed 3/44) for six points. In Pune, Jharkhand 169 & 130/1 (S Mohan 74) were up against Maharashtra 527/5 declared (A Bawne 169 not out, D Patil 148, R Gaikwad 101 not out). In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 404 met Odisha 225 (G Choudhary 50, V Chandran 4/40, A Sarvate 3/56) & 102/4 (G Choudhary 53).

Group D

In Chennai, Tamil Nadu 313 beat Uttarakhand 134 & 113 (R Sai Kishore 6/34, A Ram 4/33) to claim seven points. In Jaipur, Rajasthan 497 were met by a reply of 305/6 (B Merai 73, E Goyal 64, R Singh 53).
