Injury Recovery Boost for Bangladesh

Bangladesh have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming two-Test series against Australia. Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has been declared fit to return to the national side after a successful rehabilitation period for a left calf injury that had kept him out of action since June.

According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the 31-year-old will travel to Darwin on Sunday to join his teammates. His return is particularly timely as the squad faces other injury challenges, with young fast bowler Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam both unavailable for the series opener.

A Historic Tour

The series represents a milestone for Bangladesh cricket, marking the first time in 23 years that the team will play a Test match on Australian soil. To prepare for the challenge, Bangladesh will face a Cricket Australia XI in a three-day warm-up match in Darwin from August 6 to 8.

The schedule for the series is as follows:

• First Test: August 13-17 at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin.
• Second Test: August 22-26 at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.

New Leadership Roles

Litton's return to the Test squad follows his recent appointment as the ODI captain of Bangladesh. He takes over the leadership from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who stepped down following a 2-1 series defeat to Zimbabwe. Litton, who is already the T20I captain, will now lead the 50-over team as the nation prepares for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

A seasoned campaigner with 104 ODIs and 2,869 runs, Litton brings a wealth of experience to the side, having previously captained the team in seven ODIs.
