Alpine confirm Franco Colapinto stays for 2027 alongside Pierre Gasly

Alpine have confirmed they will retain Argentine driver Franco Colapinto for the 2027 Formula 1 season, putting an end to weeks of speculation over the 23-year-old's future with the team.

There had been considerable uncertainty over whether Colapinto would be kept on for a second full campaign, having been drafted in to replace Jack Doohan after just six rounds of the 2025 season. The announcement now confirms Alpine's complete driver line-up for 2027, with Colapinto's team-mate Pierre Gasly already signed to a long-term deal.

Colapinto currently sits 12th in the 2026 Drivers' Championship as the season heads towards its climax. The confirmation removes any lingering doubt about the Argentine's role within the Enstone-based outfit for the year ahead.

Formula 1 now heads to Monza for Ferrari's home race at the Italian Grand Prix on September 4-6, live on Sky Sports F1, where Colapinto will be eager to build on his campaign in front of the sport's passionate Italian fanbase.
