Rocky Flintoff announces himself with 123 as Lancashire set List A record

Rocky Flintoff scored his first senior professional century as Lancashire beat Somerset by 174 runs in the One-Day Cup and secured a place in the quarter-finals.

The 18-year-old, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, made 123 off 76 balls, hitting 10 fours and seven sixes. He shared a 214-run partnership with opener Keaton Jennings, who scored 156, as Lancashire posted 443 — their highest total in List A cricket.

Lancashire’s win on Tuesday took them into the quarter-finals, where they will face Ben Stokes’ Durham.

Jennings praises teenager’s composure

Jennings, who batted alongside Flintoff, praised the teenager’s performance.

"When you are developing a few grey hairs, it’s great to be out there batting with a young player of such talent," he said while speaking to media, as quoted by Reuters.

"Rocky knows his family can’t score his runs for him. He has to go out there and do it himself and there is every sign he is going to do just that. He has a fantastic physique for a cricketer and a good head on young shoulders. Today he used his feet well and played a fantastic knock."

Flintoff’s century came as part of a record-breaking team performance from Lancashire, who crossed 400 for the first time in their List A history with their total of 443.

Rocky has already represented England at youth and second-string level, having played for both the England Lions and England Under-19s. His latest innings was his first century in senior professional cricket.
