Saurashtra's top-order batter Jay Gohil has officially replaced Sarfaraz Khan in the West Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. Gohil, who was previously serving as a standby player, earns the call-up following a consistent run of form in domestic cricket.

The 25-year-old Gohil has been in prolific form during the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, accumulating 523 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 58.11. His record includes one century and four half-centuries. Overall, Gohil boasts 860 runs in 12 first-class matches with an average of 47.77.

West Zone and Mumbai chief selector Rajesh Pawar confirmed the selection, stating: "Yes, we've picked Gohil as Sarfaraz's replacement, as he was in the standbys and was consistent in the Ranji Trophy for saurashtra this season."

Sarfaraz Khan's International Call-up

The vacancy in the West Zone squad opened up after Sarfaraz Khan was selected for the Indian national team. Sarfaraz replaces the injured Sai Sudharsan for the Test series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to begin on August 15 in Galle. Sudharsan is currently recovering from a toe injury sustained during the India A tour at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

West Zone Squad and Outlook

The West Zone team will be led by Maharashtra skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, with Mumbai's all-rounder Shams Mulani serving as vice-captain. The squad features a mix of experienced and emerging talent, including:
