Carse to bowl for Durham while England weigh up the fallout

Brydon Carse has been named in Durham's XI for their County Championship Division Two clash against Gloucestershire at the Riverside, even as England continue to navigate the fallout from a late-night incident in Derby that saw the 31-year-old fast bowler left out of the second Test squad.

Carse was dropped by England after being arrested and subsequently de-arrested following an incident in Derby. Derbyshire Police are investigating what they have described as allegations of assault, while the matter has been referred to the Cricket Regulator. At this stage, there has been no clear confirmation of whether Carse was directly involved in the alleged assault, but the situation has cast a shadow over his recent international involvement.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Durham have selected Carse in their side for the Division Two fixture at the Riverside, a match that carries considerable weight as the club push for promotion back to the top tier.

The confirmation comes as former England captain Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts were also named in the Durham team for the match. The pair were captured in footage showing Carse being handcuffed, adding a striking subplot to the county fixture.
