Bayer Leverkusen Confirm Moussa Diaby Out Until After November International Break as Loïc Badé Diagnosed With Concussion
Bayer Leverkusen have been dealt a double injury blow in the wake of their 3-0 Bundesliga defeat to TSG Hoffenheim, with the club confirming on Monday that both Moussa Diaby and Loïc Badé were forced off during Sunday's loss.
Diaby ruled out until after the November international break
Die Werkself confirmed that Diaby, the 27-year-old winger, sustained a thigh injury during Sunday's 3-0 loss in Sinsheim. The setback is expected to keep him sidelined until after the November international break, leaving the club without one of its attacking options for the coming fixtures.
Badé diagnosed with concussion and laceration
Loïc Badé was also forced off in the same game after colliding with an opponent and has been diagnosed with a concussion and a laceration. The French centre-back underwent a thorough neurological examination on Monday, with Leverkusen stating that they hope to have him back in action as soon as possible.
The head injury was a frightening moment in the match. Prior reporting on Sunday (October 25) recounted a sickening clash of heads between Badé and Hoffenheim forward Max Moerstedt, after which the defender required lengthy treatment and was stretchered off.
Leverkusen midfielder Robert Andrich gave a worrying account of the incident, telling BILD that Badé was "not really" responsive following the collision.
Broader injury concerns for Leverkusen
The double setback adds to a growing injury list at the BayArena. Earlier in October, sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed that attacker Eliesse Ben Seghir would miss the meeting with Lech Poznan and was also likely to sit out the Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg after suffering a minor muscle injury.
Rolfes said at the time: "He will definitely be out this week."
What's next for Leverkusen
Leverkusen's next fixture is a DFB-Pokal clash against 1. FC Nürnberg on Wednesday, with the club now facing the prospect of navigating that tie and its upcoming Bundesliga schedule without two key contributors.
