Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has dismissed suggestions that he should comment on the club's transfer activity, insisting that recruitment decisions lie solely with the management.

The Hungarian international spoke out as the Reds navigate a period of significant transition. Following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign where the club finished fifth and failed to secure silverware, Liverpool are facing a depleted squad after the free transfers of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate. Additionally, the club has seen a change in leadership with Andoni Iraola replacing Arne Slot as manager.

With only two signings completed this summer—Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz—and ongoing links to Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, fans have expressed concern regarding a lack of depth. Szoboszlai, however, remains neutral on the matter.

"It's not my job to say who we have to sign or if we have to sign someone," Szoboszlai said. "But if the guys above and the manager decide to sign someone then we'll be very happy and welcome them well. If they decide not to then we get on with it, and we have to do something special with this squad."

Youth stepping up

In the absence of a flurry of new signings, Szoboszlai believe the club's youth prospects will be vital. He specifically highlighted 19-year-old Trey Nyoni, who has reportedly impressed during pre-season training.

"I knew always that Trey is a good player," the Hungarian added. "In training he has shown his quality many times. Also, when he had the chance to play in some cup games or even in the Premier League. The youngsters at the back also did very well... The squad is short so we need everybody."
