Anfield tops the table: Liverpool's home crowned England's best-rated stadium on Google
One football fan has done what few would dare: searched every home ground in the Football League on Google and recorded each one's rating and review count. The result, shared with The Guardian's Knowledge column, is one of the most impressive tables in the column's history — and it crowns Anfield as England's best-rated stadium.
"The range is not particularly large – the highest recorded rating is 4.7 and the lowest is 4.0," the reader explained. "Not surprisingly, the bigger and more successful clubs tend to have the higher ratings. The nine highest-rated grounds are all Premier League clubs."
The cream of the crop
Liverpool's Anfield sits top with a 4.7 rating from a colossal 54,546 votes. Only two other grounds have hit 4.7: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (26,545 votes) and Nottingham Forest's City Ground (2,245 votes).
Just behind on 4.6 are Old Trafford (Manchester United, 54,535 votes), the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal, 34,778), the Etihad (Manchester City, 32,246), Stamford Bridge (Chelsea, 25,434), St James' Park (Newcastle United, 12,116) and Elland Road (Leeds United, 10,066).
Leicester City's King Power Stadium is the best-ranked non-Premier League ground in 10th (4.6 from 7,573 votes), while Wolves' Molineux leads the Championship clubs in 11th (4.6 from 7,408). League Two's highest-rated ground is Exeter City's own St James' Park, ranked 31st with 4.5 from 246 votes.
At the other end
Hull City's MKM Stadium is the lowest-rated Premier League ground (4.3 from 3,676 votes), while QPR's Loftus Road is the Championship's worst, down in 85th on 4.1 from 3,458 votes. Only two Football League grounds carry a 4.0 rating: Oxford United's Kassam Stadium (2,506 votes) and, in 92nd and last place, Stevenage's SPORTA Arena (350 votes).
