James Wilson and Findlay Curtis leave Scotland squad for Under-21 duty
James Wilson and Findlay Curtis have left Scotland’s senior squad to join the Under-21 team for Wednesday’s match against Azerbaijan.

Senior matches missed
The Hearts striker and Rangers winger had been training in Spain as part of new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli’s 27-man group. Their switch to the Under-21s means they will miss Scotland’s Nations League fixtures away to Slovenia and at home to Switzerland on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
Both players could return to the senior set-up for Scotland’s trip to North Macedonia on 3 October and the home meeting with Slovenia three days later. However, the Under-21s are scheduled to play Bulgaria on the same day as the latter fixture.
Young international records
Wilson has scored five goals for Hearts this season. He became Scotland’s youngest men’s international at 18 years and 17 days when he made his debut as a substitute against Greece in March 2025, and has won two senior caps.
Curtis has made five appearances for Scotland and became the nation’s youngest World Cup player after making late appearances against Haiti and Brazil in the United States this summer.
