Lazio join Inter at summit as Como and Roma play out first Serie A goalless draw
First goalless draw of the season
Serie A's first goalless draw of this season arrived in its 54th match, ironically between two of its more prolific teams. Perhaps things might have ended differently between Como and Roma if the division's leading scorer, Donyell Malen, had not earned a red card at the start of the second half.
Roma started brighter and hit the post through Lorenzo Pellegrini. Como dominated absolutely after the red card, with 80% of possession, but could not make the pressure count. In the end, it was a result each team could live with. Returning from this season's first international break, Como and Roma remain the most likely contenders to challenge Inter.
Lazio level with leaders
Lazio's 3-1 win over Monza on Sunday kept them level with Inter Milan at the top of the table — an astonishing feat at a time when their fans won't even come to home games.
Elsewhere on the card, Genoa beat Fiorentina 2-1, Inter defeated Parma 3-0, Napoli beat Frosinone 3-0, Lecce lost 2-1 at Bologna, and Sassuolo drew 1-1 with Milan. On Monday, Atalanta host Venezia and Torino face Udinese.
The table after six rounds
Inter Milan and Lazio lead with 16 points, Roma sit third on 14, and Cagliari fourth on 13. Juventus and Como are tied on 11, with Milan on 12, Napoli and Frosinone on 10, and Sassuolo on eight.
