SPFL invite bids for Scottish Premiership TV rights from 2029-30
SPFL launches process for next broadcast cycle
The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has invited broadcasters to submit bids for the UK rights to screen Scottish Premiership matches from the 2029-30 campaign, with officials expecting "strong interest" in one of Europe's most compelling domestic competitions.

The move opens the door to a new era of top-flight coverage in Scotland. The league's existing five-year, £150m agreement with Sky Sports — which permits the broadcaster to show up to 60 games per season — began last term and will run until the conclusion of the 2028-29 season.
Premier Sports currently also holds the rights to show up to 22 Scottish top-flight fixtures each season. However, the SPFL says it is "flexible about the number of games that it shows live in future", suggesting the structure of any new deal could look markedly different.
'Essential element' of club finances
SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster stressed the importance of the next broadcast arrangement to the financial health of Scotland's clubs.
"Securing strong broadcast partnerships is an essential element in maintaining a balanced and sustainable income mix for the SPFL and its clubs," Doncaster said. "We anticipate strong interest from broadcasters in what is widely recognised as one of Europe's most exciting national league competitions."
League Cup deal unaffected
The SPFL confirmed that a separate contract with Premier Sports covering broadcast and sponsorship rights for the Scottish League Cup remains in place until at least the end of the 2030-31 season and will not be affected by this announcement.
